Dr. NASIMULLAH

Dr. Laiq Khan
Dr. Laiq Khan is an accomplished technical consultant with extensive expertise in power system dynamics, control systems, and renewable energy technologies. With a distinguished career spanning academia, industry, and research, he brings a deep understanding of advanced engineering solutions to address complex challenges in electrical and computer engineering.
Experience
Laiq Khan has worked with prestigious institutions and industry leaders globally, delivering innovative solutions in power system stability, smart grid technologies, and renewable energy integration. As the Head of the Electrical Power & Control Systems (EPCS) Research Lab at COMSATS University Islamabad, he leads multidisciplinary research to develop intelligent control algorithms for FACTS, HVDC systems, and hybrid power systems. His collaborations with organizations like the National Power Control Center (NPCC) and National Transmission & Dispatch Company (NTDC) in Pakistan have provided practical solutions to real-world power system challenges. With over 100 publications in high-impact journals and conferences, Laiq is recognized as a leading expert in his field.

- Power System Dynamics & Control: Laiq specializes in designing robust damping control strategies for power systems, enhancing stability under severe disturbances using intelligent and adaptive techniques.
- Renewable Energy Systems: His work focuses on wind energy conversion systems (WECS), photovoltaic (PV) systems, and hybrid power systems, addressing synchronization, maximum power point tracking (MPPT), and grid stability.
- Smart Grids & Microgrids: Laiq excels in developing control algorithms for AC/DC microgrids, including distributed cooperative control and cyber-physical system security against FDI attacks.
- Advanced Control Techniques: He is proficient in intelligent control methods such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, NeuroFuzzy systems, and deep learning, applied to power systems and electric vehicles.
- High Voltage DC (HVDC) & FACTS: Laiq designs adaptive control paradigms for HVDC and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), optimizing performance in large-scale power networks.

Currently a Professor of Power System Dynamics and Control at COMSATS University Islamabad, Laiq has held numerous leadership roles, including Chairperson/Associate Dean and acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. His prior roles include professorships at Islamic University in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, and earlier positions at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute and Siemens Pakistan. His industrial experience as a Field Engineer involved hands-on projects like the installation and commissioning of power systems for cement plants and oil terminals.
